This post offers the possibility to listen to a beautiful recitation of the Dua Sahar, preferably to be recited every night during the month of Ramadhan, just before initiating the fast of the new day. 

Sahar is is the last portion of the night just before the light starts to expand and the first ray of light becomes visible. In certain periods of the year and certain altitudes on the globe it is possible that there is no real night as there will always be a presence of light in this so called twilight zone. In these regions it is important to observe when the present light starts expanding again instead of the first ray of light as this last one can not even be observed due to the twilight zone and the light pollution in many of the industrial areas.

This leads to a frequent confusion and possible discussion between institutions about what is the correct time of prayer. It is possible that in the same city different mosques do their prayer with a difference of more than hour due to this phenomena that occurs when the sun does not go more then 18° below the horizon.

On the northern hemisphere this would be roughly everything above the 50th parallel north. More precisely at latitudes greater than about 48.5 degrees, on dates near the summer solstice, twilight can last from sunset to sunrise, since the Sun does not go more than 18 degrees below the horizon, so complete darkness does not occur even at solar midnight. These latitudes include many densely populated regions of the Earth, including the entire United Kingdom and other countries in northern Europe.

When living in these regions, it is important to choose the right institution to follow the information regarding the correct prayer hours. The last one third of the night is specially beneficial for doing prayers and searching closeness to Allah (swt). Sahar is the last half of this period and is also the period when traditionally the Sahur meal is consumed and the prayer posted on this page is recited or listened to in preparation of a new day of fasting and purification.
